Turning climate science into ‘climate feeling’

We, The Hopeful is a collective of citizens who are, indeed, hopeful that humankind will do all it can to limit climate change.

Climate scientists have been trying to communicate about the urgency for a while now. But the science and numbers are complex. They don’t inspire people to take action.

Emotion is the biggest driver to behavior. We set out to translate the climate science into ‘climate feeling’.

We brought the future to life, with messages from 2050, translating cold facts into relatable stories.

The first campaign consisted of two films. One paints a dark picture of a future where we don’t take action. The other is more hopeful, a grateful message from a better future because we did make decisions at the decisive time to stop climate change.

The second campaign plays on the fact that a majority of Europeans, 78%*, support climate action but are afraid to speak up because they think they’re a minority. It’s a silent majority that doesn’t need to be silent. They have the power of choice to change the world.

Results

Both campaigns reached a worldwide audience, on social media and in mainstream press without any media budget. The first campaign even got screened in classrooms and at international events, such as COP30 in Belèm.
